My great-great-grandfather Josiah M. Espy was not as illustrious as his younger brother James Pollard Espy, but he wrote an entertaining account of a journey he made from Bedford, PA to Louisville, KY and back, which is here reproduced. The account was published in 1870, some years after his death, with an introduction which may well have been written by his daughter Lavinia (my great-grandmother).
