Phil & Pat's Web Home Page
This is the personal web home of composer/oboist/teacher Dr. Patricia Morehead and pianist, conductor, vocal coach, and editor Philip Morehead.
Phil worked the last four summers at the Highlands Opera Studio in Haliburton, Ontario, which is an operatic apprentice program founded and overseen by world-renowned tenor Richard Margison and his multi-talented wife Valerie Kuinka, stage director and violist. Phil is a member of the Muskoka Big Band. He has become reacquainted with the bassoon after having studied fifty years ago with the great John Miller. He now studies via ZOOM with Jo Ann Simpson of Ottawa and, before COVID, played with the Highlands Chamber Orchestra and (rehearsals only) the North Bay Symphony. He is hoping for the speedy return of these organizations!
Pat has been working on several composition projects and playing oboe/bassoon duets with husband Philip. The premiere of her orchestra work Voyage Across Centuries was put on hold by COVID-19, with lingering hopes that it will be once again programmed when the pandemic abates. The piece will be recorded by Parma Recordings and released at a future date on a disk of contemporary orchestral compositions. She will be playing one of her compositions on the Ear Taxi Festival in Chicago on October 2nd in Chicago and is also hosting a Spotlight event online. Check Ear Taxi Festival for more information.
